This blog was first published in 2019 and represents my thoughts at that time.

The Republican Party is being positioned to be the only political party in the coming American autocratic government of the United States. It is painfully obvious from actions, not words, that the gran GOP is unwilling to take a stand against anti-democratic behaviors of President Trump. Even when corruption oozes from the sores created by the Trump cabinet, not even a band aid is offered by the GOP to stop the corruption. A cursory review of the tenure of the following cabinet members is proof enough: Paul J. Manafort, the second Trump campaign manager, indicted on money laundering charges in late October; General Flynn, for undisclosed lobbying work done on behalf of the Turkish government; son-in-law and consigliere Jared Kushner, for failing to disclose $1 billion in loans tied to his real-estate company;
And the list goes on:
- Michael Cohen, Trump’s former longtime personal attorney, pleads guilty to illegal campaign contributions ‘at the direction of a candidate for federal office’
- Rick Gates, Former Trump campaign official Rick Gates pleads guilty to 2 charges
- Scott Pruitt, EPA Secretary: An ethics cloud hung over for months, as lawmakers from both parties, environmental groups and government watchdogs raised questions about his spending, housing arrangements, security team and raises for political appointees.
- Michael Anton was brought into the NSC by Michael Flynn, Trump’s first national security adviser, who plead guilty to lying to the FBI last year. Anton resigned after learning he would be fired the next day.
- David Shulkin was the subject of a damning report from the department’s inspector general that found the VA leader had spent a good deal of a European trip sightseeing and had inappropriately accepted a gift of Wimbledon tickets.
- Tom Price resigned in the midst of a scandal over his use of private planes. He was being investigated by the department’s inspector general for private flights that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.
- Michael Flynn forced to resign amid claims he misled the administration over his communications with Russia during the transition. In early December 2017, Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI.
- Ryann Zinke, the subject of multiple ethics investigations and a possible DOJ criminal probe for using his office for personal gain, Zinke resigned rather than be fired in an end-of-year Trump staff shakeup.
- George Papadopoulos, Ex-Trump Adviser Pleads Guilty in Mueller’s Russia Probe
- Alex Van der Zwaan, Associate of Trump Campaign Chairman Paul Manafort and Trump Campaign Adviser Rick Gates
- John McEntee was fired and escorted from the White House. Two sources said McEntee was pushed out because of issues with his security clearance, making him the latest aide to be forced out because of difficulties obtaining a permanent security clearance.
In the above list, at least six Cabinet heads have been investigated and ousted for corruption in the management of their departments. When Citizens United was given blanche carte to infuse unaccounted for millions into the political process, bought and paid for elections are the results. And when considering that dozens of wealthy contributors, all associated with Citizens United, have been charged and sentenced for illegal cash manipulations and embezzlements, (and some claim that only the poor just want something free) it becomes clear that our government is being run by a cadre of mafia types equal only by the Russian mafia that run the Russian government. And the leader of these crooks is nonother than the president himself who continuously places his personal business interests before the country’s interest. These are only a few of the many examples of fraud and fraudulent people running our government and the GOP does nothing. I would say there is collusion between the GOP and the mafia running our government.
Trump and the GOP claim that the Mueller Report clears President Trump of all wrongdoings. This is simply false; the report does no such thing. As far as collusion and conspiracy are concerned, there may not have been certain proof that rises to the level of crime, but collusion was evident. Over 200 contacts between the Trump orbit and the Russians prior to the election can be nothing other than collusion, not a crime. Why did all the Trump operatives questioned about contacts with Russians lie unless something was hidden and lying unexposed. The Manafort directed changes to the Republican platform that favored the Russians was an important coup for Russia. The Manafort passed to the Russian intelligence Trump polling data, and who knows what George Papadopoulos was doing. And then there is the Trump/Putin hidden relationship, puppeteer and puppet maybe, who knows. The question is still unanswered, with all these possible conspiracy events, the GOP does nothing.
The Mueller Report offer 11 instances of Trump interference with justice but the GOP and its leadership stresses that it is time to move on. They know that Mueller could not indict, that is the job of the House of Representatives whose Republican contingent is not just silent, but strongly suggests that the investigation is over. No it is not! But the GOP is willing to cover up and hide Trump crimes. Simply, the GOP is weakening our laws in order to protect the criminal in chief, Trump.
In the past seven general elections, the Republicans have lost the popular votes in six of these elections. It is apparent that in the previous six years that Republican-run states have passed laws and changed voting procedures for the explicit purpose of limiting minority voting in state and national elections. The majority of Americans do not support the extreme rightist views of the current GOP. If I can see this, then obviously the GOP leadership can see these signs of the party’s future calamity.
The GOP, rather than sanctioning the actions of President Trump and his corrupt partners, are encouraging his mafia run government. But why? Why has this GOP turned a blind eye to the corruption and corrupting behaviors that have oozed into our nation’s Trump government? Why has the party professing to be the party of Law and Order suddenly abandoned its traditional moorings and floated into the ever-increasing swamp of illegitimacy that permeates our current national government? It is because the GOP and Trump are encouraging the incremental weakening of our traditional democratic institutions, allowing run-a-way corruptions to undermine traditional democratic functions. I believe that Trump is promoting the undermining of our traditional governmental institutions in collusion with a scheming and treacherous Putin. The only way that the Republican Party will be able to stay in power is to destroy our traditional democratic institutions so that the majority of citizens will be mute as a take-over occurs and our American liberties and values are openly crushed. The Republican Party is colluding with Trump to lead our nation into a Russian style autocracy run by thieves and charlatans.
